Storm Darragh: Number of events cancelled in and around Harlow

News / Sat 7th Dec 2024 at 08:35am

HERE is a rolling look of events that have been cancelled due to the high winds. We will also put any road/rail closures and other incidents should they occur.

Weather update from the Met Office

Harlow Rugby

Unfortunately, all rugby at Latton Park is cancelled this weekend due to the adverse weather conditions.

The Water Gardens

Mother Nature has decided to give us another surprise, so we’re moving today’s Snow Saturday event to the 14th of December 11am – 4pm. Stay tuned to our social networks for updates. Thank for your understanding.

Epping Christmas Market

It is with much regret that Epping Town Council will not be putting up the traditional Christmas market today because of the high winds forecast. Sometimes the forecast eases, but on this occasion, it will not be possible to have the gazebos up.

There is still lots going on in Epping High Street and we understand Santa is still planning to arrive at Epping Fire Station from 12 noon. The wonderful St John’s Church Christmas Tree Festival is thankfully also indoors, so please go along and enjoy both festivities. The shops, restaurants, bars and businesses in the High Street will be stocked – and indoors – so please shop local and support our Town.

Epping Town Council would like to thank Weald Hall Care Home for sponsoring the Christmas Market and wanting to be a key partner in this great event. We would also like to thank all those who were due to take part for their understanding.

The Christmas Market takes a lot of organising, so we would like to thank our team of staff and everyone who has helped with the preparations for the event.

Let’s hope next year the weather is kinder.

North Weald Market

MARKET IS CLOSED TODAY!

We are really sorry we tried our hardest to get the Market open for traders and customers today, but the wind has made operating too dangerous .. We will be back next week!

See you all next week!

Stow Christmas Lights

UNFORTUNATELY, tomorrow’s (7 December) Christmas Light Switch-On event in The Stow has been cancelled due to weather warnings.

Harlow Council has made the difficult decision to cancel the event, in line with the cancellation of other outdoor events in the area.

The Christmas Tree will still be there for the community to enjoy and the lights will go on. The council would like to thank LiveWire who were due to perform and all those involved in the Safe To Go Stow project.

The Tommy Jones Project Christmas Extravaganza is still going ahead at Moot House from 12noon to 5pm.

The Safe To Go Stow community hub is open Monday to Friday

The Gibberd Garden

CAROL Concert at the Gibberd Garden on Saturday December 7th.

It is with regret that due to the extreme weather forecast the concert has been cancelled.
