Man in court over a number of supermarket thefts

A MAN was due to appear in court charged with stealing alcohol from supermarkets in Bishop’s Stortford on EIGHT occasions in November.

Rory Brytz, 33, of Atherton Close, Bishop’s Stortford, was arrested on Wednesday morning (December 3) reports the Stortford Independent.

He was held on suspicion of committing seven thefts and one robbery in the space of three weeks, as well as possessing drugs and assaulting an emergency worker.

Brytz was later charged with eight counts of theft from a shop, including five from Waitrose in Northgate End in the space of a week (November 12-19).

The other offences were at Tesco at Bishop’s Park on November 2, Sainsbury’s in Jackson Square on November 21 and Tesco Express in South Street on November 24. The Tesco Express incident was initially treated as a business robbery.

He was also charged with possession of a class B drug (cannabis).

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “No further action will be taken in relation to the assault.”

Police also seized a bicycle as part of their investigation.
