THERE was a festive atmosphere at Moot House on Sunday 15 December when its Gala Concert, organised in conjunction with Harlow u3a Choir, entertained a packed house. Opening the programme, the u3a singers performed a selection of Christmas and winter themed songs which were well received by the audience.

Lively tunes such as Jingle Bell Rock medley and Christmas: Baby Please Come Home had everyone tapping their toes whilst the beautiful Mary’s Lullaby, composed by local musician Sarah Wiggins, and John Rutter’s Christmas Lullaby created a softer and more poignant mood.

Two junior choirs – Fawbert and Barnard Primary School and Livewire Voices – charmed everyone with a mixture of traditional carols and popular songs.
The first half concluded with Voices of Harlow, who enthusiastically maintained the festive mood with an eclectic repertoire ranging from favourites such as Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer to the 16th century sacred carol Gaudate.
The interval afforded the audience the opportunity to experience the recently opened café in Moot House, and to enjoy a warm mince pie and a hot drink, before joining in with community singing of popular Christmas carols – the final one sung outside in front of the Christmas tree. A great way to end a wonderful afternoon which also raised funds for local charity Streets2Homes.
Congratulations to Musical Director, Roisin Quinn, and Moot House Chairman, Derek Fenny, for putting together such a successful event which certainly brought the festive spirit to The Stow.
t was a privilege to be part of the U3A Choir singing to an appreciative audience at Moot House on Sunday. An enjoyable afternoon also listening to the other choirs.
