Essex Day photography competition winner announced

THE winner of a countywide competition to ‘capture iconic Essex locations and landmarks’ announced.
Explore Essex and Visit Essex launched a competition to celebrate Essex Day. Photographers were asked to enter images of landmarks and attractions from across Essex. The competition celebrated the county’s patron saint, St Cedd.

The results were:
Winner – Mark Caldron’s image of the River Blackwater at Maldon
Runner up – Mike Pountney’s photo of the Brythnoth statue in Maldon’s Promenade Park
Runner up – Dr. Edmund Ranasinghe’s picture of Stock Windmill in a snowstorm.
First prize was a Christmas hamper while the runners-up received vouchers and a discount for the Tiptree cafés and gift shop. Prizes were provided in partnership with Tiptree Tea Rooms
Essex County Council’s Councillor Mark Durham, Cabinet Member for Arts, Heritage and Culture, and Chair of Visit Essex, said: “We were delighted to receive such a high number of entries, many of them were of an extremely high quality and showcased the best that Essex has to offer.
“The judges panel had a very difficult choice to make but the winning entry was a beautiful image that stood out. We would like to thank all those who entered the competition and congratulate our winner and runners up.”
