ARE you looking to meet some new interesting people? Do you want to shift your
work life balance or unwind with a low-cost hobby? Already involved in performing in
college, or your village hall or local theatre and want to develop your talent and stretch
boundaries?

Whether it’s time for a change, or to step up your game then amateur drama with an
established company may be what you are looking for. Perhaps you would like to be a
stage performer or director? Maybe a set builder, painter or costumer? Maybe a props
master or stage crew? Helping with admin or front-of-house? Whatever your creative
bent, our theatre company could be the next step for you.

Why HTC? Harlow Theatre Company has been performing at Harlow Playhouse and Victoria Hall Theatre uninterrupted for forty-six years with over three hundred and fifty shows worth of experience and still counting. Our list of past and present performers totals over a thousand who between them have performed in studio as well as small stage and main auditorium productions under seventy different directors. Some have even gone on to work in professional theatre and television.

Our repertoire covers everything from, murder mysteries, modern classics, unique takes on the works of Shakespeare, musicals and pantomime. HTC produced the first ever stage play of Monty Python’s The Life of Brian and was one of the first amateur companies to stage, with great acclaim, the iconic Jerusalem originally starring Mark Rylance.

Along with award winning productions such as Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming and Richard Harris’s Stepping Out are just a few examples of our varied theatre programme. Our productions are supported by design teams, technicians and crew, many of whom bring professional skills with them, as well as some who have learnt along the way. We are confident that we can offer a wealth of talent and experience for you to draw upon if you are looking to engage in quality not-for-profit drama.

HTC is the only local company that offers training and every six weeks on a Saturday all day workshops run by friendly, skilful industry professionals give local actors the opportunity to hone their acting skills whilst having fun. II you fancy trying your hand at improvisation or understanding text analysis or performing Shakespeare or a musical showstopper- look out on the HTC Facebook page and sign up to these very popular skills workshops.

Do you have to be an accomplished actor, dancer, singer or technician to join in? Not
at all! Whatever your age, gender, ethnic background or orientation then if you want
to join a like-minded theatre group you will be welcome. You will be supported all the way by skilled directors and technicians. All we ask is that you are committed to doing the best you can and are ready to work as part of a team.

We can’t promise to change your life, but we may just be the boost you need.

HTC’S Annual General Meeting takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 5th February at our very own rehearsal building space in High Wych. Open to all why not come along to find out more and meet some of our wonderful team.?
