HARLOW MP Chris Vince has written to the Essex Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner over concerns that the front desk at Harlow police station may close with the possible loss of jobs.

Mr Vince’s letter to Roger Hirst can be seen below.

It may have been missed but there may have been a U-Turn over the jobs of 96 PCSOs but the future of 65 other personnel at Essex Police was still in doubt as they try to balance their budget.

Many are concerned that this may be the compete closure of the police station by stealth. The buildings surrounding it have either been sold off or are under-used.

Meanwhile, the Essex Police-Harlow District Facebook page put out this message on Monday night.

“Tomorrow, Tuesday 11 February, the front counters at our police stations will close at 2pm instead of 5pm.

Anyone attending a police station to make a report will still be able to speak to an advisor using the yellow phone mounted outside each station.
