Original story

A TEENAGE boy has been arrested as part of our response to an incident in Harlow.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We were called to an incident near to Passmores Academy, in Tracyes Road, shortly after 3.35pm on Monday 13 January.

“Following a quick response to the call, officers seized a knife, and a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article.

“He has been released on conditional bail whilst our investigation continues.

“A teenage victim sustained a minor hand injury which is not associated with a weapon”.

Acting chief inspector Leanne Archer, Harlow district commander, said: “Quite clearly there will be some concern around this incident given where this has taken place.

“The response to the incident was very quick and we were able to make an arrest and ensure there were no serious injuries sustained.

“A boy was questioned in connection with the incident and has been released on conditional bail whilst this investigation continues.”

Chief Inspector Archer added: “Driving down and preventing knife crime is among the most important work police officers and staff do.”

We know from our analysis that more than 50% of serious knife crime perpetrators are aged between ten and 19, whilst the highest single proportion of victims are male, also aged between ten and 19.

“We know this is an issue which can specifically affect young people and we work determinedly with our partners in Essex to support those at most risk by putting in place help and diversions to deter them from becoming serious knife crime perpetrators.”

Pathetic sentence……broken Britain! The victim must feel so much safer now, hope they don’t spend the £11 all at once!

So you can terrify people with a knife and get a £11 fine, the victim might be psychologically scarred for life. Had he used the knife and killed someone he might have got life imprisonment. Too big a gap in sentences between carrying and killing. Longer sentences for saying something nasty on Facebook.

What happened to being caught with a knife will see you inside for 12 months? This pathetic decision does little to deter kids from carrying knives, if anything it shows there is no deterrent. No wonder why people are losing faith in our justice system.

Resident, he will pay it back out of his pocket money and has been grounded for a few months, anybody with Grandchildren should be encouraging the parents to do the best for the kids and emigrate, this once great country is finished.

Details matter!

What is a 'referal order'? Is he tagged and under curfew? This is why the schools need to encourage extra curricular activities outside of the mandatory curriculum. Kids need to learn to socialise and let off steam but within set boundaries. Then they will learn what is acceptable and what isn't? Sports is fantastic for this especially team sports because then they need to work together in order to achieve a common goal - winning. Getting praised for doing something good?

£11 ? - How is that a deterrent to any of these knife wielding thugs, he will probably go and mug somebody and steal that to pay the fine! I bet he wet himself laughing when he heard his punishment.
