Harlow Walking Football team begin new season

HARLOW Town Pirates Walking Football teams began their new season in the Essex Walking Football League with mixed results. Each month the five teams involved play a round of matches, beginning in March and ending the season in October.

Pride of place after the first round of matches, must go to the two Women’s teams who were undefeated. In the Premiership, Harlow sit top of the table. After a slow start, drawing 0-0 with both Billericay Town Blue and Leyton Orient, they hit form to defeat both Romford Randoms Blue 5-0 and Valley Green Rovers Diamonds 1-0 and then finished the session with a 2-0 defeat of Beacon Hill Rovers.
In the Championship, Pirates got off to a flying start, defeating Hawkwell Athletic 1-0, before drawing 0-0 with Valley Green Rovers Emerald. A 1-0 defeat of Beacon Hill Rovers White was followed by a fine 3-0 victory over Romford Randoms Yellow and the final match saw a 0-0 draw with Billericay Town White to leave Pirates second in the League.
The Men’s Over 60s, playing in Division 1 had a mixed day starting with a 1-0 win over Eastwood Falcons Blue, followed by drawing 2-2 with Billericay Town Blue. This was followed by two defeats to Eastwood Falcons Yellow 1-2 and Beacon Hill Rovers 0-3, which means that they sit 7th of 10 teams.
The Men’s Over 65s in Division 2 endured a scoreless off day. Pirates drew 0-0 with both Billericay Town Red and Romford, before a 0-1 defeat by Leyton Orient Red which leaves them bottom of the table.
The Men’s Over 70s team playing in Division 1 continued their form of last season, finishing the opening day unbeaten after a 1-1 draw with Little Oakley and a 0-0 draw against Barnet. Their first win came with a 1-0 defeat of Romford. This leaves them in 5th place, exactly in mid-table.
