Elections / Fri 11th Apr 2025 at 03:55am
HARLOW Labour is delighted to announce Mark Hall resident Christine Gallagher as their candidate in the Mark Hall by-election to be held on 1st May.
Christine Gallagher will be a familiar face to former students of Burnt Mill School where she was a teacher for many years. As a Mark Hall resident Christine knows the community and the issues of concern to locals.
Christine said “Mark Hall is my home, I am standing in the by election to make sure your
voices are heard”
Veteran former Labour Councillor, and fellow Mark Hall resident, Mike Danvers commented “we have been let down by the Conservatives for too long. We need Christine to be elected to hold them to account for their broken promises”

Harlow Labour Leader Cllr James Griggs welcomed Christine as their candidate saying “Christine will be a fantastic councillor for Mark Hall. She is already making an impact on the doorsteps where she is listening to the concerns of residents. It’s amazing how many doors are answered and we discover residents already know her, she’s clearly popular and well rooted in the Mark Hall Community”
Christine’s pledges are:
WORK WITH FELLOW WARD COUNCILLORS – I will collaborate with my colleagues to ensure residents’ concerns are addressed and that your voices shape the future of Mark Hall
MAKE MARK HALL A SAFER PLACE TO LIVE – Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community. I will work with local police and community groups to tackle antisocial behaviour, improve street lighting and ensure safer public spaces for all
HOLD THE CONSERVATIVE COUNCIL TO ACCOUNT – They made many promises in last years elections. I will challenge them to deliver on what they pledged
PUSH FOR URGENT POT HOLE REPAIRS – Essex County Council must take responsibility for fixing the potholes in Mark Hall. Especially on Momples Road. I will keep the pressure on until real action is taken
OPPOSE THE RISE IN COUNCILLOR ALLOWANCES – It’s wrong that Conservative Councillors awarded themselves a huge pay rise while services are being cut – I’ll fight to reverse it

She's up against Reform who already have canvassers in the Stow, who don't seem to know that their leader is a friend of Donald Trump, who last week claimed the Nazis were kind and generous to Pele in their death camps. Farage often repeats slogans from that era. They want to abolish the NHS for a system that, in the US made 260,000 bankrupt families last year and left diabetics unable to afford insulin. That's where the fight for every seat. The profoundly dishonest 'Reform' party or Labour, which hasn't quite implemented its five year policy in 9 months, or filled any potholes! Incredible choice!
I thank you for the enlightened view Nick. Pele was in Brazil at the age of 5 when ww2 finished. You mention farrage wants to abolish the nhs this would be not long after our labour government abolished NHS England, awarded more private companies more nhs contracts of any U.K. government and whilst we are still suffering with the pfi's from Blairs era. I'm pretty sure we don't have 260,000 americans in the Mark Hall ward nor do we have diabetics fighting for insulin. You only have to look at our Labour mp to see what a Labour vote for Harlow means.
