Mark Hall By-election: Green Party candidate concentrates on grass roots issues
News / Sat 26th Apr 2025 at 11:02am
IF you needed any more evidence that the Green Party in Harlow was truly grass roots then have a look at our interview with their candidate for the Mark Hall By-election on May 1st.
We met Julie Taylor on the cycle track by Tany’s Dell Primary. There she pointed to a drain that is causing major problems in the area.
Julie also discussed a number of other grass roots problems that she is addressing in the area.
Whether the Greens win the ward is a moot point but what must be applauded is their commitment to local issues in Harlow.
Details of all candidates can be found on our politics page.
Fantastic interview Julie. As always working hard in Mark Hall to represent the residents all year round for the past few years not just at election time.
Julie Taylor CAN win in Mark Hall and SHOULD win, because she lives there, cares for her neighbours and residents of the ward, and will be supported as a councillor by a committed and caring Harlow Green Party.
Unfortunately the Conservatives and Labour visions of the town centre and the unsustainable transport corridors are pure spin and bad planning. They are not green & it's difficult to ever see how Labour or Conservatives would ever restore the market in what promises to be a town centre full of high rise high density rabbit hutches of flats. Even companies like IKEA who are setting up in the town are steering well clear of the current bombsite and going to a site off Edinburgh Way. A Green approach could deliver what successive Labour and Conservative parties have destroyed. Julie would bring a new energy to the Council Chamber
You would be a fool to vote green. I write this from 38000 feet on my way to the US for a conference, under the greens this thing would be severely limited (I have four first class long haul in the next month for business). Despite the leader Caroline Lucas flying long haul regularly, as she needed to, she just views that you should not. They are hypocrites do as I say not as I do, vote green get communism they are the ultimate virtue signallers.
I know it is local but like an infectious disease they spread. look how else they have done locally they have destroyed Brighton and Bristol with there lunacy. But my point was really to highlight their hypocrisy
I know first hand how the green s care for there community and its people.
Adam T is completely right. Don't be fooled by the Greens. They are the watermelon party: green on the outside, totally red on the inside. They are unrealistic communists who will destroy our economy and our country.
This ward has for many years had a majority of councillors from the Labour Party, yet Julie highlights a number of longstanding issues festering. That is what Labour is about, taking their working xlass vote for granted. I am still unsure that Green is the answer, but it will be nice to them chew up the Labour vote..
