No buses in Sumners due to vandalism and anti-social behaviour

THE BUS companies that operate in and out of the Sumners Estate have suspended all operations due to a spate of attacks on their vehicles.
Central Connect has published the following statement on their website.
“Service 1 in Harlow is part suspended and will not serve the Sumners Estate until further notice to multiple acts of targeted vandalism against our vehicles.
“Until the criminal behaviour, of a minority of individuals in the area, ceases there will be no evening or Sunday service to the estate”.
YH has contacted Essex Police for a statement as well as the three councillors for Sumners and Kingsmoor.
Cllr Joel Charles has called for a swift response to crime in Sumners to ensure the Central Connect evening and Sunday bus service is able to resume:
Cllr Charles said: “Residents wanting to enjoy the bank holiday weekend in Sumners will feel frustrated that their Central Connect Sunday bus service has been withdrawn at short notice because of a spate of vandalism.
“I know that officers from the town’s Neighbourhood Policing Team take vandalism seriously. The focus must be on working with the bus operator to track down those responsible.
“It is important that the evening and Sunday bus service is able to resume. If anyone in the local community has any information about the recent acts of vandalism, they should report what they know to the police.”

Jj seems determind to blame the police and made an ideological point about some of the work police do. I've no doubt that most, if not all of these problems, are caused by children or youths. Instead of criticising the police and making a political point, how about criticising the parents? They are the ones who should be policing their own children.

I have been a victim of vandalism this weekend in Bishopsfield my garage lock had SuperGlue put in it. I hope this is not a trend spreading across town

Sumners and Katherines: the land that time forgot. Rarely see a copper round there and when you do they are usually whizzing past in a car. I can't remember a foot patrol there. No wonder coppers look unfit.

Jj they might have lost your respect but anyone in the lgbtq+ community and BAME community and everyone else who wants to protect them from persecution and bile for homophobia and racists, really appreciate them following up on hate crimes. This is not a police problem but the issue is with those that are vandals or causing ASB. The bus drivers need protected. They don’t do the job to be attacked

Mindless, stupid vandals, cause a needed service, to be withdrawn due to there persistent vandalism, bet it’s not there grandmother or grandfather who may have difficulty in walking, or a disabled relative who would be dependent on this vital service, who may have no other means of transportation, this may seem hilarious to you, but try thinking of the people in this community, that are dependent on these services, hope the police find these imbeciles, and throw the full force of the law against them, make them pay for all the damage they’ve caused. Ignorance such ignorance.

Jj the police do not 'push' LGBTQ+ as you put it. Like many, they choose to try and not discrimiate against us. The LGBTQ+ community has no control over antisocial behavior nor what the police priorities are. Stop using us as a politcal weapon.

Police have are not treated with respect as society makes it so. Anytime police do any thing people surround and shout police brutally. Can't do a job do to bad parents that think their kids are angels when they are the problem.

Simple solution - and what we (yes from personal experience) Police used to do was local Copper sat on the bus. Trust me any issues stopped - when a Copper used to be allowed discretion to speak and deal with then that is. Now parents would scream 'You told my darling son/daughter off how dare you' - there in lies the problem.

The police do their best and are under so much pressure.thick people on here slagging them off is poor.. parents of the area get your house in order check where your kids are , make sure they are not out causing this nonsense...anyone can have kids but being a proper parent is harder.

Far too busy turning up to arrest people for hurty words. I used to think we had some of the best judiciary now I see the police as the enemy of the native British people. Absolutely disgraceful.

Over the decades kids have been allowed to run amok what with real discipline being disallowed for teachers, the police and parents. Unfortunately, we reap what the self appointed do-gooders sow :(
