ESSEX Police arrested more than a dozen suspected drink and drug drivers this weekend, as officers cracked down on dangerous driving on our road network.
Our Roads Policing Unit were carrying out Op Limit patrols – making sure no one on the road is unfit to drive and everyone is behaving safely.

On Saturday alone, the team arrested 14 drivers on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs across the county.
Over the whole weekend, the team seized 21 cars from drivers without insurance, and issued 190 Traffic Offence Reports for a range of offences including driving while using a mobile phone, driving without a seatbelt, and speeding.
It’s all part of our work towards Vision Zero – our commitment to getting deaths on our roads down to zero by 2030 as part of the Safer Essex Roads Partnership.
Head of Roads Policing Adam Pipe said: “We’ve had a number of terrible fatal collisions on our roads this year already.
“It makes the work we do to stop offences like this even more important – all of these offences increase the risk of a collision, so the best way to prevent those road deaths is to ensure drivers are following the rules of the road and taking care in their vehicles.”
