Tragic for the young man killed...how can a lorry going southbound actually go over the barrier and right across the northbound section beggers belief the standard of driving is lower than ever it seems.
Brian, the image in the article is showing the lorry on the hard shoulder of the southbound carriage way. So if it was traveling southbound as you say, it looks like it’s hit the central barrier, and not crossed it.
OK a.smith if your right wouldn't the lorry be further up on the right of picture as traffic is moving left to right
A.smith I assumed the lorry was on the northbound road in the picture.Whatever happened it's horrendous and the young man killed never stood a hand.
I was on scene at the incident, the lorry came over the barriers into oncoming traffic as it turned onto its side
How utterly tragic. That’s the reason that some motorways and major highways are now having their metal central crash barriers replaced with ones made of concrete, in order to prevent this crossover type of incidents.
Have some respect people yes absolutely tragic my heart goes out to nearest and dearest but until the truth is published people shouldn't make their own story it could of been multiple reasons
Stuart, How long before a worse incident on the 414 approaching the Amwell roundabout as nothing in place in the centre apart from grass?
Jarrett. lt’s unbelievable that it was only recently that they replaced all the existing barriers along the A414, but never continued with installing of a new central barrier up to the roundabout. It’s just waiting for a serious accident to happen, then it will be buck passing why this barrier was never installed.
Such a shame for someone so young. This is happening far too often on that stretch and it will only get worse as Stansted doubles it's traffic which will see a substantial increase of vehicles on that stretch. My condolences to his family, loved ones and friends.
I agree 100 per cent seamus, can you imagine that last second of that young man's life, suddenly a lorry straight in front of him,god bless him...
RIP Luke, met you very few time but what an amazing person you were.
May you rest in peace dear Luke so young. My thoughts go out to his family especially his dear dad whom I have known for a very long time.
