THE headteacher at Churchgate Primary School is spearheading a campaign to refurbish the school swimming pool that is in something of a dilapidated state.

Mr Chris Jarvis has written the following message on their GoFundMe page.

“Since joining Churchgate Primary School, lots of parents and pupils have asked about the swimming pool and we would love to get it up and running again so that we are in a position to host weekly lessons for pupils during the warmer months.

“The pool needs a lot of refurbishment before we would be able to start swimming lessons again, so we are hoping to raise a substantial amount of money to support with the works and ensure the pool is fit to deliver fun and safe swimming lessons. We would also love to support other local schools by hiring our pool out to support with the long term sustainability.

The cost of maintaining and sustaining a pool has dramatically increased in recent years, so we are planning to ensure the pool is a sustainable long term project.

We are also looking to raise money to replace our EYFS/KS1 climbing frame which is coming to the end of life as well as raise money to support with the purchase of new Chromebooks/laptops to support with the delivery of our school curriculum. The machines we currently have will not convert to Windows 11 and will not function in the new school year.

“To support with raising funds, Mr Jarvis will be running The Big Half in September. Please consider donating to our fund as the positive impact to all pupils at Churchgate c of E Primary School will be huge”.
