its about time they put lights there before someome gets killed
All I ever see now are people on their phone was driving. I was in my lorry in southern way watching a women scroll through Instagram all the way from Passmores school to the mini roundabout at Bush fair! Social media is now more important than road safety
You’re right Liam
A lot of new cars have co pilot so people think they no longer have to pay attention. Also there are lots of people from countries where you do not give way on crossings and can’t be bothered to learn our rules of the road. Then you have the huge number of drugged up drivers. It’s hardly any wonder road accidents are on the up.
Was it a legal bike, did he dismount to use the crossing?
Take a guess jarrett.
I have noticed lately people just walk across the road not bothering to look left or right they have it in their head the driver's must stop ok I know at a Zebra crossing you must stop when people are waiting but if you watch them people on them scooters they rushed to get to zebra crossing before you ve even approached them and some times you don't have time to stop.
It is definitely time this crossing was controlled by lights. Using it recently, I was halfway across, and a car just shot across in front of me. The driver had earbuds in and was doing that concentrated stare ahead, usually seen in drivers ignoring pedestrians. This crossing is too dangerous to remain 'just' a Zebra crossing.
Hi I was the one who was hit and I wasn't in a e bike in was on a push bike and going across at walking speed when the car hit me spun me in the air the accelerated and hit me again
I stopped and waited for both cars each side before I crossed there was a mother and daughter crossing the opposite side when the car hit me spun me in the air then accelerated and hit me again and drove off and even if I was on a e bike does that justify a hit and run leaving me for dead in the middle of the road
Apologies Tony but i was only going by what the police said, speedy recovery.
Guy Flegman, leave it to you to point at people from other countries for “ not being bothered to learn the rules of the road”, so it could be one of them . Typical stereotype , boring as always. People from other countries take the same test as you do to secure their drivers licence in this country!!!
There are plenty of elderly drivers aswell. I merely point out some of the more obvious reasons our roads a getting more dangerous. People from other countries can drive on foreign drivers license for 6 months before they have to take a uk test and during this time they are at higher risk of accidents. It’s also worth pointing out we drive on the wrong side of the road over here which also makes driving here a bit more challenging for many people from other countries. It’s not a question of race but what you are used to.
It doesn't matter where the driver is from, what matters is that this incident was a hit and run, hopefully the driver will be found and prosecuted, although I doubt that they will do the right thing and report themselves.
Guy Flegman "There are plenty of elderly drivers as well. I merely point out some of the more obvious reasons our roads a getting more dangerous" Let's take a look at the hard facts, official the accident statistics, to see if your claim is correct.
Accredited official statistics. Reported road casualties in Great Britain: younger driver factsheet, 2022 Published 28 September 2023. Accidents per mile driven.
