Epping: Planned protest: Essex Police put orders in place
Crime / Thu 31st Jul 2025 at 06:37pm
ESSEX Police has put plans in place to ensure a planned protest in Epping can take place safely this evening.
They have put in place a Section 60AA order which prevents people from wearing face coverings and a dispersal order which gives us the power to direct anyone committing, or suspected of committing anti-social behaviour to leave the area.

If anyone breaches either of these orders they face being arrested.
The Section 60AA order is in place from 3pm today (Thursday 31 July) until 3am tomorrow (Friday 1 August).
The dispersal order is in place from 3pm today until 8am tomorrow.
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow said: “Tonight’s protest follows two previous demonstrations which passed off peacefully and without incident.
“We’re putting measures in place to ensure those who want to express their democratic right to peaceful protest can do so safely, to minimise disruption to the local community and to ensure the safety of residents and staff at the hotel.
“Our plans are also aimed to ensure residents and businesses in and around Epping can go about their business as they usually would and there is no reason why they cannot do so.
“We will not tolerate anyone coming her to commit crime or anti-social behaviour and if you do, you will be dealt with”.
"Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow said: “Tonight’s protest follows two previous demonstrations which passed off peacefully and without incident." You didn't see that acknowledgement sadly in many of our news sources of late. Epping residents have every right to be concerned, even more so given government figures released today. A record number of foreign sex offenders and violent criminals are in prison in England and Wales, the first official data by nationality has revealed. The number of criminals from abroad jailed for such offences increased at a rate of almost three times that of British sex offenders in the past year, Ministry of Justice (MoJ) data shows. In total, foreigners accounted for 12 per cent of the 87,334 prisoners in England and Wales after a 3 per cent increase in a year saw the number rise to 10,772. The number of foreign criminals jailed for violence is also at its highest level since records began, this is the highest figure in at least a decade. So, if the people of Epping wish to make peacefull protest about the unsuitability of migrant hotels within the Epping area, you can understand their reasoning.
Seamus - The man was talking about the demonstrations passing off peacefully - If you want to cut and paste figures about the number of foreign prisoners in our goals, wait for a story that more clearly fits that natative. Incidentally, that 10,772 (12%) would be even higher were it not for the deportation of 4,436 foreign criminals over last year as part various deportation / early removal schemes.
Nancy, I know he was talking about peacefull protests, I mentioned it. I also mentioned that it wasn't reflected in such a way by many of our news sources. There was no narrative, the figures reflect fact and the growing migrant prison population and why people have concerns around the hotels. Even more so as with Epping hotel residents in regards to three counts of sexual assault, one count of inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity and one count of harassment without violence. Then there is also two counts of arson with intent to endanger life. These activities coming from one lodging would concern any community would it not?
