Harlow leaders come together to launch “community colours”

Communities / Mon 8th Sep 2025 at 06:03pm

POLITICAL, community and faith leaders are set to come together as an act of solidarity and support for the whole community.

Recent reports of racial abuse; divisions and hatred aimed at some members of our communities have prompted Rev’d Jokey Poyntz and Cllr James Griggs to launch ‘Community Colours’ at St Paul’s Church in the Town Centre.

Celebrating and supporting the diverse, multi-cultural communities of Harlow, the project aims to create a peace wall of multi-coloured ribbons in the church courtyard.

The project will launch at 5pm on Tuesday 9th September when residents are invited to show their support by bringing along a ribbon and adding it to the wall.

Ribbons will also be provided at the launch event. If you cannot make it to the launch you can pop along and add a ribbon at any time.

What a wonderful initiative from Labour's Group Leader James Griggs and the community champion Reverend Jokey Poyntz. I'll be there.

I do think it is honourable and brave to highlight and stick up for and protect vulnerability. I will always stick by James Griggs for going the extra mile. Well done again James.

I went along and it was lovely - the colourful wall of ribbons looks fantastic too.
