Harlow firefighters rescue Monty the schnauzer

News / Fri 10th Oct 2025 at 07:12am

FIREFIGHTERS from Harlow’s Red Watch rescued a miniature schnauzer after he became trapped between garden railings while chasing his tennis ball.

On arrival, firefighters found Monty trapped fast between the railings and visibly distressed. Crews worked carefully and sensitively to free him, ensuring he wasn’t hurt during the rescue.

Once free, Monty quickly made friends with his rescuers, bouncing around the garden and covering them in grateful licks.

Crew Manager Joe Fisher said: “We’re all animal lovers and have dogs ourselves.

“Seeing Monty in that position was heartbreaking – but when we finally freed him, he literally licked us to death! It was brilliant to see him bounding around the garden.

“His owner was also very grateful – it was lovely to see them reunited.”

Well-done it's reassuring that pets are still being rescued .In Harlow we. Have a fantastic human and friendly fire brigade. It is wonderful they are happy funny and committed to our town. And now they have new shower facilities in the guide of a dog.lol
