THANKS to funding from Essex Community Foundation, Generation Circus is bringing its much-loved CircusFit Over 50s to Harlow this January. Classes are totally FREE and take place at Moot House, The Stow, Harlow (CM20 3AG), every Wednesday 1.30pm–2.45pm, starting 21 January 2026.

Building a circus community of remarkable over 50s

Generation Circus has already transformed lives in Ware, where its over 50s classes have grown into a thriving community of people who proudly call themselves “circus people.” Participants range from those in their 50s to Pamela, age 95, who never misses a session. Their inspiring story has been featured in The Telegraph and Saga Magazine, highlighting how circus can help older adults rediscover play and physical confidence at any age.

Founder Emma Taylor, who lives in Harlow, says:

“It’s been incredible to see how Generation Circus has changed people’s lives – not just physically, but socially and emotionally. As a Harlow resident, I’m thrilled to finally bring this to my own community. This is just the beginning for Harlow.”

What is CircusFit?

CircusFit combines playful games, creative challenges, and circus techniques using equipment like juggling scarves, balls, hula hoops – and often just the body itself.

Sessions begin with laughter-filled games that capture the energy of a playground, and challenge coordination, memory, and concentration. It’s lively, brain-boosting, and just makes people feel great. There’s a wonderful mix of ages from 50 all the way up to 95, all supporting and cheering  one another on regardless of fitness level or experience.

CircusFit has created a vibrant, supportive network of older adults in Ware and Generation Circus can’t wait to bring this to Harlow. Participants have formed friendships that extend beyond the sessions – training together, meeting for coffee, going to circus shows, and supporting one another through health and life challenges.
