HARLOW’S festive season continued in style today as thousands of residents and visitors flocked to the opening day of the Harlow Christmas Market, filling the town centre with colour, music and seasonal cheer.

From the moment the market opened, Broad Walk and the surrounding area buzzed with activity. Families, friends and shoppers enjoyed a vibrant mix of festive stalls, local traders, street food, crafts and seasonal treats, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.
The market offered something for everyone, with twinkling decorations, live entertainment and the unmistakable sights and sounds of Christmas bringing the town centre to life. The strong turnout reflected the growing excitement around Harlow’s festive programme and the renewed energy of the town centre.
Commenting on the opening day, Cllr Dan Swords, Leader of Harlow Council, said:
“It’s been truly inspiring to see thousands of residents come together for the opening of our Christmas Market. Harlow is back for Christmas, and today shows what’s possible when we invest in our town, believe in our future and put our community first. Our town centre is on the up with energy, warmth and festive spirit.
“This Christmas Market is about much more than shopping. It’s about creating lasting memories for families, celebrating the pride we have in Harlow, and showing the progress we’re making as we continue to Build Harlow’s Future together.”
The Harlow Christmas Market continues each day from 10am-8pm until 21st December, offering residents and visitors even more opportunities to enjoy a truly festive experience in the heart of the town.
The town looked wonderful. The lights were spectacular thank you to all involved. It was fantastic seeing our town centre alive again.
⭐️Dan Swords the man that has done most for this town👍
"Tens of Thousands of people attending"?
Anything that puts pennies into stores in the community instead of online stores is welcome.
Dan has done a lot for this town he should be proud
Well done glad we have a good story for a change ,sick of starmer thieves and the rest of the clowns ruining our lives..well done to all.
Well done to all involved getting this market started and I hope it becomes an annual event. One thing that was missing in the area - seats. We ended up going elsewhere to sit down for a break.
It's a pity that the real crisis that is ecc goes unnoticed with the traffic carnage that they caused this weekend down by harlow town station, no work going on but loads of them sitting in their work vans, in a week the market will be gone but the traffic chaos will still be there, what a joke!!
Oh wow- that is unacceptable and offensive. Unbelievable- everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Well done all. Nice to hear something positive reported about the town.
I thought the Christmas market if you want to call it that was very sad , over priced stuff that you can get much cheaper in the store...
Thought it was really nice to see. I'm not Dan Sword's biggest fan at all but this event was a success and it was really nice to see a lot of people out and about. Considering the stuff was handcrafted I didn't think the prices were too bad - they're not going to compete price-wise with the dropshipped tat coming from China. My only gripe was that I arrived too early for the mulled wine stall to be open!
