A HARLOW man has been charged with aggravated burglary after a woman in her 70s reported being threatened with a knife.

A police spokesperson said: “We received reports that a suspect had forced entry to a property in Radburn Close in the town on 14 December and demanding money at knifepoint before an alarm sounded and he fled the scene.

It was reported money and bank cards were taken from the property.

Our officers launched an investigation and identified the suspect, and a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary on 16 December.

Two police officers also sustained injuries during the arrest.

Now, 20-year-old Danny Mitchell, of Rundells in Harlow, is charged with aggravated burglary, criminal damage and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

“He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 18 December and was remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 15 January 2026”.

Detective Inspector Karen Knibbs said: “Tackling burglary and violent offending in Harlow is a priority for our officers.

“This charge is just an example of the work we are doing every day to make Harlow a safer place.”
