Athletics / Fri 9th Jan 2026 at 09:27am

CHRIS Vince, Member of Parliament for Harlow, is set to take on one of the world’s most iconic challenges: the London Marathon in April 2026. He will be running to raise funds and awareness for St Clare Hospice, a vital local charity providing specialist palliative care.

St Clare Hospice has long been a cornerstone of care in the community, supporting people living with life-limiting illnesses and offering compassion and dignity when it matters most. Their services extend beyond patients themselves, providing crucial support to families, carers, and loved ones, ensuring that every precious moment can be spent together.

Chris Vince said:

“I am truly honoured to be running the London Marathon in support of St Clare Hospice. The work they do is extraordinary. They offer care, comfort, and hope to patients and their families at incredibly difficult times. I hope my run can contribute to their incredible efforts and help ensure that their vital services continue to reach everyone who needs them.”

By taking on this 26.2-mile challenge, Chris aims not only to raise much-needed funds but also to highlight the importance of this community-based support service. Every donation will go directly to St Clare Hospice, helping the charity continue its life-changing work in Harlow and the surrounding areas.

Rosie Knowles, Deputy CEO, St Clare Hospice, said:

“We are absolutely delighted that Chris Vince MP is taking on his first marathon in support of St Clare Hospice. Chris has taken on the challenge of our 10k run at the hospice each April for many years, and we’re so grateful he has chosen to use his ballot place in the London Marathon this April to help raise vital funds for our specialist care. His commitment will make a real difference to the patients and families who rely on us, and we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.”

Members of the public can support Chris on his fundraising journey by donating here1 and following his progress as he prepares for the big day in April.

Well done Chris Vince. Nice to see him go the extra mile. Just don't clog up A&E afterwards.
