Thirteen new postal workers recruited for Harlow following MP Chris Vince’s campaign

Chris Vince / Tue 13th Jan 2026 at 02:17pm

FOLLOWING a sustained campaign led by the Member of Parliament for Harlow, Chris Vince, confirmation has been received that 13 new postal workers are now being recruited to support local delivery services in Harlow.

This development comes after long standing concerns from residents about delays, missed deliveries and understaffing across Harlow and the villages.

Chris Vince MP:“Restoring a reliable, timely postal service is essential for local households, businesses and the wider community. I would like to thank everyone who raised concerns and worked constructively on solutions, whilst also extending thanks to the hardworking postal workforce already serving the community.

I understand that systemic issues may remain. These will be closely monitored in the weeks ahead and I will be meeting with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) to continue pressing for long-term improvements to both service and working conditions.”

Well done Chris, maybe we'll get more than one delivery a fortnight now.

The royal mail needs to be held to account for prioritising parcels over letters. Absolutely shocking that they are being paid to deliver letters and not delivering them. I got post today, one letter was dated 12th December for an appointment on the 17th December. Absolutely appalling service

Well done Chris, you're doing a good job for Harlow. I am fed up with letters sent first class being delivered two weeks after posting.

Can Mr Vince clarify "13 new postal workers are now being recruited to support local delivery services in Harlow." The post office employing 13 new people doesn't mean they will be on deliveries. I notice neither Royal Mail or the CWU make any claim that this will improve services and Mr Vince even adds "I understand that systemic issues may remain."

Since October Old Harlow has had about 4 days of post was delivered. Tracked and parcels are delivered by van as they cost Royal Mail money if lost and you can prove it! I have over 10 known letters that should have arrived from October none have! Missing Blood donation form, Bank cards and pin numbers! How this is allowed is absolutely insane I have complained through Royal Mail and to Ofcom and the Parliament committee and to Chris himself. This situation is absolutely insane how its allowed to continue. Royal mail claims there isn't a problem in Harlow at the moment 😆. There last response to my final stage complaint.
