Man on mobility scooter stopped as he drove on M11 near Harlow
Crime / Sat 28th Feb 2026 at 01:46pm
ESSEX Police received an unexpected call on Friday afternoon when one driver was seen using the hard shoulder of the M11.

Reports at about 12.35pm on 27 February said a man in his 70s using a mobility scooter accidentally turned onto the motorway at Harlow.
Officers were quickly at the scene to make sure he was safe and stopped, closed one lane briefly while they got the man in their car, and took him and the scooter home.
Not a typical stop for the Roads Policing Unit, but a great reminder to only use suitable vehicles on our major roads.
Thanks to everyone who called to make the police aware.

Very lucky to be alive! Hope someone is doing mental welfare check on this poor soul and assistance going forward.
