Nominations open for annual Harlow Civic Awards

Lifestyle / Mon 2nd Mar 2026 at 10:58am

NOMINATIONS have opened today for the annual Harlow Civic Awards, which celebrate the town’s unsung community champions and recognise residents and organisations who go the extra mile for Harlow.

Community groups and individual volunteers play a vital role in supporting people across the town – from running clubs and organising cultural and social events to helping neighbours and improving community life.

The awards aim to highlight outstanding contributions made by residents of all ages, whether through long-term dedication or exceptional acts that have made a real difference.

This year’s awards feature four categories:

  • Citizen of the Year (individual)
  • Community Group of the Year (group)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (individual up to age 18)
  • Sports and Culture Award (individual or group)

The awards are presented to individuals and groups by the Chair of Harlow Council at the Annual Council Meeting in May.

Councillor Andrew Johnson, Chair of Harlow Council, said:

“The annual Civic Awards are of important event in our town’s calendar because they shine a light on the remarkable people who quietly strengthen our community every day. These awards remind us of the compassion, energy and dedication that make

Harlow such a special place to live. I encourage everyone to nominate someone who deserves recognition.”
