Harlow Council issue statement over Scott Mills sacking

HARLOW Council has issued a short statement following the news that the BBC have sacked their broadcaster Scott Mills following allegations about his personal conduct.

Last week, Harlow Council announced that he was be the star of one their Town Show nights.

He was supposed to be performing on Friday August 28th.

A Harlow Council spokesperson said: “We are currently in conversations with Scott Mills’ agent and have no further comment to make at this stage.”

The BBC have not given any further details, saying only “while we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted to work with the BBC.”

He is under investigation for serious sexual offences against a minor dating back to 2018. The decision to sign him up is a grave mistake, and terrible judgement. I hope he hasn't had any payments from the taxpayers of Harlow. Mark Gough Reform UK

Mark Gough, don't be ridiculous. Scott Mills is only now under investigation, few would have known until now that Scott Mills would be investigated. Also, we need to remember that under UK's rule of law, there's a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Only the courts can convict, no one should be convicted by an online witch hunt. Let the law take its course.

I love the fact that Reform are blaming Harlow Council for the booking. This shows just how naive and unelectable their inexperienced candidates are. The Conservative Council is doing a great job improving our town. The 2 Reform comments here are just sensationalising something that is being investigated. The Council are stopping the booking as there is suspicions. This is exactly the right thing to do. Reform, do you remember your candidates across the UK who had to withdraw from elections because of accusations of racism, sexism, hate speech, and extremism. There is nothing to say he is currently being investigated by police over it. He was investigated years ago and there wasn't enough eveidence. He was never arrested or charged. The world is a scary place If we decide people are guilty for just being accused. I'd guess that none of us on here have the full story, and maybe he is guilty but being simply accused doesn't make him guilty.

Section 2 of Article 6 of the Human Rights Act 1988 states , “Everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law”. Amazing how quickly some people forget that.
