St Elizabeth’s opens brand new Adult Community Hub

Education: Secondary / Sat 4th Apr 2026 at 06:11am

ST Elizabeth’s is delighted to celebrate the opening of its brand new Adult Community Hub – a welcoming, vibrant space created to bring adults with complex needs together to learn, connect and flourish at the heart of their community.

The new Hub builds on that warmth and sense of belonging, offering adults aged 18+ a place where they can explore their interests, grow their independence, and share meaningful moments with others. Families can feel confident knowing their loved ones are supported by a team who truly know them, value them, and champion their potential.

The Adult Community Hub brings together a rich mix of activities that encourage confidence, curiosity and friendship. Adults can choose from a wide range of opportunities such as arts and crafts, games and social activities, community outings, sports and movement, Sing and Sign, relaxation and wellbeing sessions, sensory activities and more.

These sessions sit alongside our wellestablished vocational opportunities at The Drawing Room art studio and Ashvale, our horticulture and animalcare area, two muchloved spaces that support creativity, responsibility and connection with nature.

Every adult follows a personalised pathway that reflects their strengths, needs and aspirations, whether that’s building social confidence, supporting emotional regulation or exploring new hobbies and skills. Our specialist, compassionate team creates an environment where adults feel safe, understood and encouraged every day.

We were honoured to welcome Mayor Richard Townsend to officially open the Hub and share this milestone with us. His visit was a joyful celebration of the people who make St Elizabeth’s such a special place.

Deputy Head of Adult Learning, Jocelin Warren, said: “We were delighted to welcome Mayor Richard Townsend to officially open the new Community Hub on Wednesday. During his visit, Richard met with adults, staff and members of the Executive Team, and toured our vibrant new space. Alongside one of our longstanding day clients Simon, he cut the ribbon to loud cheers from everyone proudly gathered to mark the occasion.

Richard spent time engaging directly with everyone, joining several activities that showcased the breadth of what the Community Hub offers. His visit included an arts and crafts session where clients were preparing a poster to celebrate Purple Day at St Elizabeth’s.

We would like to thank Mr Townsend for his support. The opening of our Community Hub represents an exciting milestone for St Elizabeth’s as we continue our commitment to enhancing opportunities, independence and wellbeing for adults across the local community.”

The warmth of the Hub reflects what families often share with us, with one parent saying “He [my son] feels safe and trusts the staff so much – it makes a world of difference to him and us.” Another parent told us that “my daughter is happy, so we are happy.”

The Community Hub is accepting referrals for adults with complex needs to join. Adults and families can also self-refer.
