Passmores Labour councillor Jake Shepherd: Proud to be serving the people of Harlow

Politics / Sun 12th Apr 2026 at 03:28pm

OVER THE next four weeks, we will be interviewing a number of candidates standing as part of the Harlow District Council elections on May 7th, 2026.

We will at some stage be doing our ward-by ward pieces, where the tipping ability that last backed a winner in the Grand National in 1994 (Minnehoma if you must know), will be on full display.

On Friday, we caught up with Passmores councillor, Jake Shepherd. If there is one word to describe Jake it is “integrity”.

We met him up at Bishopsfield, as he was handling concerns from local residents (more on that to come).

But over the years, we have come to the conclusion that Cllr Shepherd gets civic duty and representing and being an ambassador for your town.

This not only refers to his work in the ward but also at council and on committees.

This year may be an uphill struggle for Labour but if Jake does Lise has seat then they are really big shoes to fill.

Here is our short interview.

Jake always dresses smart with a suit for council meetings and wears a tie, unlike the Blairite poseurs with an open neck shirt.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Jake even has the presence of mind to remove his bicycle clips being entering the council chamber.
