PUPILS at William Martin Schools in Harlow are enjoying a newly transformed outdoor learning environment, thanks to the generosity and support of Curo Construction.

Curo Construction has worked in partnership with the school to remove old and deteriorating demountable classrooms, freeing up much needed space and enabling the creation of a bespoke bike track for Reception pupils.

The former portacabin structure had reached the end of its usable life and would have cost the school thousands of pounds to remove. Recognising the opportunity to make a meaningful difference, Curo Construction stepped in to carry out the demolition and clearance at no cost to the school.
The result is a refreshed and welcoming outdoor area that is already having a hugely positive impact on pupils. Reception children are now enthusiastically engaging in outdoor learning and making full use of the new bike track, which even includes dedicated parking spaces. The space supports pupils’ physical development while building confidence, independence and teamwork at an early age.
Gina Bailey, Executive Headteacher at William Martin Schools, said:
“We are so grateful to Curo Construction for their generosity and support. This project has completely transformed our outdoor environment and created exciting new opportunities for learning and play. It is wonderful to see the children so engaged and motivated, and this enhanced space will have a lasting impact on our provision for many years to come.”
Curo Construction’s involvement reflects its wider commitment to social value and supporting local communities through its work.
Darren Pettitt, Director and Founder of Curo Construction, said:
“Construction is about more than buildings. It’s about the people and communities around them. If we can use our skills to make a positive difference, that’s something we’re always proud to do.”
Staff and pupils at William Martin Schools have shared their appreciation for the project, highlighting the long term benefits it will bring for children, staff and the wider school community.
While a relatively small intervention in construction terms, the transformation has delivered meaningful impact, creating a safer, more engaging outdoor environment where the school’s youngest learners can thrive.
