Beyond Assumption: Marathon charity cycle ride in memory of Harlow man

Charity / Tue 21st Apr 2026 at 09:24am

THIS week, local charity Beyond Assumption has its first major fundraising event, which sees four supporters taking on the huge effort of cycling 444 miles, from Glasgow to Essex, in just four days!

Set up after the tragic loss of Adam Renney, a local young man who was born and raised in Harlow, Beyond Assumption funds vital research into the biological factors that can contribute towards suicide risk as well as acting as a bridge between research and real-world mental health care, translating evidence into practice.

They also work to challenge the narrative around suicide which is too often framed as a personal choice or moral failing. Beyond Assumption challenge this stigma through open, honest conversations rooted in science.

The cyclists include two of Adam’s cousins and two of his best friends and will finish on Thursday evening at The Plume Pub in Gilston. The Plume will be holding a BBQ and dishing out the beers to celebrate the end of an amazing achievement and they’d love to see as many people as possible on the finish line!

If you’d like to support the cause and help them meet their fundraising target, please donate via the link below or scan the QR code. You can find out more about Beyond Assumption, and the important work they’re undertaking via their website at: www.beyondassumption.org
