Dispersal Order in place across Harlow following reports of anti-social driving at car meet
Crime / Sun 3rd May 2026 at 09:34pm
A DISPERSAL order has been put in place in Harlow this evening, Sunday 3 May, to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.
The order, put in place at 9.35pm this evening, has been put on under section 35 of the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing, following reports of anti-social driving in the town at a car meet. The order will help us stop individuals driving in a way that poses a risk to the safety of other road users.

The order covers Harlow and the adjoining roads shown in the map and will be in place until 6am tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday.
Under the order officers have power to disperse anyone in the exclusion areas for 48-hours.
Inspector Luke Edmonds said: “We have seen some really irresponsible and anti-social driving this evening and we are not prepared to allow it to continue or for any others to come to Harlow to join in.
“If you are intent on coming to Harlow to drive anti-socially, please don’t bother as we will be waiting for you.
“We want all of our residents to be able to enjoy their weekend peacefully and safely.”
This has been a regular problem at the Retail Parks over a number of years. Residents in the area have had to put up with these meetings over and over again. It's time to come down hard on the owners of these Retail Parks to work properly with the Police to stop these. We had had Fireworks, Loud Music and dangerous driving. This common habit of racing between the towns three McDonald's happens time and time again. Residents deserve better.
I would also like to thank the Police for getting this order in place so quickly. It has stopped the noise and the anti-social behaviour going on late into the evening and I am sure Mark Hall residents including me and my family are very grateful to them. Well done Harlow Police!
There are race meets almost every weekend up and down Elizabeth Way and Fourth Avenue. Someone will be killed soon.
These car meets have been going on for 30+ years and no injuries to date.
