HARLOW drivers face a summer of woe as a major road in Harlow is set to close.
Here are the details from Essex County Council.
=============
The Essex County Council (London Road, Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2018
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from London Road Roundabout to Gilden Way Roundabout, a distance of approximately 777m.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd July 2018 for 61 days, or where stated on a
valid permit (EP02231002247 – Kaybridge Construction).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on www.roadworks.org.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new junction and traffic calming measure works are undertaken by Kaybridge Construction.
An alternative route is available via London Road, Church Langley Way, A414, First Avenue and vice versa.
Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.
The Order will come into effect on 12th July 2018 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
So, does this mean that the traffic that regularly uses Gilden Way, coming from Campion Hill, will be diverted through Churchgate Street, very conveniently, whilst the schools are on summer holidays. Does this also mean, that the plethora of HGV's delivering goods to the new estate that's being built, will also be coming through Churchgate Street? Conveniently kept quiet for how long, by our very own council leaders ?
Just had a thought. Is it Mark Hall that is meant and not, Gilden Way round-about?
Newsflash: Administration for the roads is taken care of by the Tory-run Essex County Council.
They'll be going right past your way, Micky. Why not start up a lemonade stall and make a bit of extra cash this summer?
Instead of jumping to conclusions, perhaps it would have been prudent of jfq to have read the article and my comment. The article by, your harlow is ambiguous. It seems that they have confused the Gilden Way round-about, with the one at London Road. As such,Gilden Way, by Churchgate will not be affected. But as usual, the idiot jumps in with both feet to make his usual snide comments, and I certainly don't need him to dictate to me, or any-body else for that matter. Childish comments and nit picking, the domain of the 'arlow REDS.
Where is 'Arlow? I've heard of Harlow, is it near there?
Whilst JFQ is correct that Conservatives run ECC is in charge of road admin - the roads are being closed by them because Labour run Harlow Council agreed a planning application that caused the need for the closures.... so please let’s not try and make this a political football... political people in this town just need to work for the good of the town. Essex have handled things badly with these closure and so have harlow and I have criticised both. Arguments like the above are what puts people off local politics and causes less than one in three people to vote locally! Grow up.
