Remembrance and Memory at the Civic Centre

History / Fri 9th Nov 2018 at 04:42pm

THE current exhibition in the civic centre window is a personal work for local artist Amanda Westbury which speaks of family history, loss and memory.

She hopes that the symbolism and items used in the work are universally recognisable and have a personal relevance and meaning for the people who pass by the civic centre entrance window.

The soldiers featured in the work have family connections, one soldier served at RAF North Weald and the other soldier was her grandad.

‘As a child you do not realise and appreciate the life experience and past lives of your elders, I wish I had asked my grandad more questions when I was a child.’

Amanda is a ceramic artist and reminiscence arts practitioner with Age Exchange.
