FOLLOWING the incredibly successful productions of a many major full length classical ballets, Harlow Ballet Association are delighted to present Don Quixote, one of the few nineteenth century masterpieces they have not yet performed. The ballet evokes a traditional view of Spain as well as containing one of the most beautiful “white acts” in the whole of dance.
It tells the story of Kitri, whose father wants her to marry for money, not for love, and how a short-sighted and blundering old knight manages to persuade everyone that “true love conquers all”. Fabulous, colourful costumes and beautiful music combine for a wonderful show.
YH went down to rehearsals at Harlow Playhouse to speak to Michael Branwell, who is set to play Don Quixote. We are sure you will agree that any ballet that has an artist such as Michael Branwell who possesses such charm and enthusiasm must be worth going to see.
