All trapped traffic between J7 & J6 has now been cleared, there is currently 5 miles of congestion approaching J7 S/B, the diversion from J7, M11 is A414, A10 onto the M25.

They are now running the traffic lights at J7 to assist those leaving the M11.

Statement from Essex Police

“We have closed the M11 at North Weald following a collision at around 9.40am today, Thursday 1 August.

We have shut the southbound carriageway between junctions seven and six and an air ambulance has attended the scene.

The driver, a man aged in his 40s, potentially has life-threatening injuries and will be airlifted to hospital.

The road could be closed for a number of hours as we manage this incident and carry out our enquiries. We thank you for your patience and support.

Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision on the M11 this morning.

On arrival, crews confirmed that one person was trapped inside their vehicle after it had left the roadway and collided with a tree.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident which occured on the southbound carriageway close to junction 6 (Harlow).

Firefighters worked to release the casualty by 10.52am before leaving them in the care of the Ambulance Service.

N/B J6 to J7 is now running, the S/B J7 and J6 remains closed, due to a Serious Road Traffic Accident. Police, Traffic Officers, Fire Crews and Air Ambulance at scene dealing.
