KIER Living Eastern is celebrating after one of its site managers from Harlow was commended in the regional National House-Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job awards for 2019.
Andy Pates, who manages Ram Gorse Park was selected from 16,000 site managers to be amongst 450 winners. Four other managers from Kier sites across the region were also commended in the awards.
Judging has been taking place over the last year, including spot checks of the day-to-day running of each site. The managers have all been assessed across a number of areas of their work, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.
Steve Wood, NHBC’s chief executive, said: “Launched nearly 40 years ago, Pride in the Job has been instrumental in driving up the quality of new homes. Despite the challenges the industry has faced in recent times, this year’s winners have kept their focus on delivering high quality new homes for their customers.
“A site manager’s role is undoubtedly one of the toughest in house building and their drive for excellence is very much at the heart of the competition. Receiving a Quality Award is a great achievement for any site manager. It’s no surprise that Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of customer satisfaction as these homes are without doubt among the best the UK has to offer.”
Each of the commended site managers will be invited to a regional awards ceremony on October 11 at Hilton Brighton Metropole in Brighton.
Meanwhile, further judging will take place over the next few months to crown a national winner, who will be announced at a ceremony in January in Westminster.
Nick Moore, Kier Living’s managing director, said: “We are delighted for our site managers that they have met the strict criteria set by the NHBC. Taking pride in our work is something to which we are all committed across Kier Living Eastern, and it’s fantastic that these hard-working site managers have been recognised in this way.”
