HARLOW Council has taken action after residents express concerns over the welfare of fish in a pond off Potter Street.
Kingsdon Lane Pond is situated in a lane between Potter Street and Church Langley.
A Harlow Council spokesperson said: “An officer has visited the pond today (Wednesday). The water level is currently not too low but there is a lack of oxygen in the pond due to the continued dry weather.
We are in contact with two specialist companies about what we can do to help aerate the water. We awaiting their advice. We believe the fish are mainly Goldfish, Orfes and Shubunkins.
We have been in contact with the Environment Agency and have been told that we cannot move the fish to other ponds due to contamination.”
The pond needs a proper path for walking and wheelchair users and a hide for watching the birds and ducks and a general tidy up
