THE Gallery at Parndon Mill presents a series of exhibitions of fine art and crafts by skilled and distinguished artists. During the Christmas period, the exhibition PRESENT ARTS maintains the same high standard, but the emphasis is on works of art which are affordable.

The skills of many of the artists who have studios at the Mill are represented, showing artworks in glass and ceramics, silver jewellery, paintings and prints. A sculptor here who “makes things” exhibits a mounted deer’s head made from leather bags!

Regular exhibitors who work nearby include Margaret Gardiner whose meticulously crafted salt glazed ceramics are well known and Ruta Bartkeviute who comes from Lithuania makes pots which are very colourful, decorated with a hint of traditional European folk art. Kathy Gales’ delicate and unusual paintings are familiar as well.

There will also be work by several artists who are new to The Gallery or are showing a fresh body of work. Chrissie Richards whose paintings have been popular in our Christmas exhibitions presents a new range as does Claire Green.

Paintings by Deana Kim Page, whose classes here are so much enjoyed, are new to The Gallery, as are small landscapes and buildings by Mike Middleton and paintings on wooden blocks by Roy Jones. Geological landscapes by John Durham and optical abstracts by Pete Greening are also a very striking addition. Beautifully knitted articles by Elspeth Hector, glass dishes by Charles Sharpe and ceramics with delightful painted decoration by Pru Green are new as well, and are very colourful and attractive.

This exhibition is a feast for the eye and is a great opportunity to acquire a unique and special present, something new for the home, individual cards, or even hand made decorations for the Christmas tree, including glass “icicles”..
