A WOMAN has accepted a caution following reports that an officer was assaulted after he attended a disturbance at a college in Harlow yesterday, Tuesday 10 March.
Police received reports at around 11.25am that a parent had become aggressive towards a member of staff off Velizy Avenue.
The staff worker had concerns about her behaviour and police were called.
While they were arresting the 45-year-old woman, an officer reported he was bitten and suffered a mark to his arm.
The woman, from Harlow, was arrested and later accepted an adult conditional caution for assault by beating of an emergency worker.
The conditions are that she would have to write a letter of apology to our officer and she must not offend within the next 16 weeks.
Chief Superintendent Ewen Wilson said: “There are simply no excuses for this kind of behaviour.
“To behave in this manner at a school is unacceptable and to then turn on a police officer attending to calm the situation and bite them is appalling.
“The woman has been apologetic and it was agreed that a caution with conditions was the best outcome.
“Our officers attend emergencies every day and shouldn’t be put into a situation where they are having to arrest parents at schools for their behaviour.
“There is no place for such behaviour by parents, which sets a dreadful example to pupils.”
