HARLOW Council has given more details of restriction to park areas in the town.

On Monday morning they announced that they had closed playground areas.

This evening, they went into more detail.

A Harlow Council spokesperson said:

“This morning we took the difficult but sensible decision to close all of our playgrounds until further notice including the three play areas in the town park and the outdoor gym equipment.

Pets’ Corner has also been closed since last week and today the seating area outside the cafe has been taped off. We are asking all residents to ensure that they follow the government public health guidance on social distancing but also social shielding where people in high risk groups are told to stay at home.

Our parks have always been open access for all and we want them to continue that way as long as it is safe to do so. However we will look at other measures we can take if concerns increase about the number of people using the parks and not following social distancing guidance.

“We are monitoring the use of the town park and other areas and we will continue to take whatever action is necessary to protect all our resident’s health and wellbeing.”
