THOUGH street parties and public open celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Friday cannot happen, the momentous event will still be celebrated.

Across the town the message has gone out to put up your flags and banners.

And in care and residential homes where residents are gathered together there will still be parties and singalongs.
