Health / Fri 15th May 2020 at 11:31am

AS you may know, YH has been reporting on the number of deaths at Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) in Harlow.

Since March 18th, there has been 202. Each death is a tragedy.

It has been frustrating that the health authorities are unable to supply the number of people who have recovered.

YH has now been trying to ascertain how many deaths have occurred in care homes across the town.

The data released by Public Health England (PHE) shows the number and percentage of care homes across England which have reported coronavirus cases since March 9th.

Figures révéal there have been five outbreaks in Harlow. There are seven care homes in total. That means 71.4% of all care homes in Harlow have reported an outbreak.

Four local authorities in London, along with West Oxfordshire, Waverley and Harlow all recorded higher numbers of outbreaks in their respective homes, with 100% of care facilities in Hammersmith and Fulham and Camden being affected.

How does that compare to other areas:

Answers

Tye Green Lodge in Tye Green Village,, Harlow

Owners: Quantum Care Limited

A spokesperson for Tye Green Lodge said:

“It is with deep sadness that we can confirm that seven residents have passed away in hospital, as a result of coronavirus. A number of other residents have died at the home, although a lack of testing at the time of their passing means it is not possible to ascertain the precise cause of death. They are all dearly missed, and our thoughts are with their loved ones.

“All residents have now been tested, and we are pleased to confirm that the home is now in recovery. Four residents who had previously tested positive for coronavirus in hospital have made a full recovery and there are no further confirmed or suspected cases in the home.

“Our dedicated staff team continues to follow all Government and Public Health England advice in relation to infection prevention and control. We could not be prouder of them, as they continue to go above and beyond to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the residents who make their home with us”.

Owners, Runwood Homes

A spokesperson said: “At this time, we are pleased to report that there are zero suspected or confirmed cases of covid-19 within the home, though sadly, we did lose four residents due to the virus.

Staff have access to testing at the nearest drive through centre, and we hope that soon, our entire resident and staff group will be tested at the home as a precautionary measure. For new residents, they must have a negative covid-19 test result, and to best protect everyone, are required to isolate for their first 7 days within the home.”

Ashlyns Care Home, Harlow
Abbot Care Home, Partridge Road,, Harlow.

Owners: Excelcare Holdings

A spokesperson said:

“At this present time the homes are all working above and beyond to keep our residents safe and as well as we can. Our frontline staff are providing exceptional care and daily stimulation to all, whilst also ensuring they are keeping in touch with their loved ones through digital technology.

Whilst we have sadly lost some residents since the start of the pandemic, not all have been related to Covid. The number of symptomatic people that have recovered outweighs the number of death which we feel is very positive and gives us all hope that with good Care, PPE and robust infection control procedures, we can manage this virus with the support of our relatives and the community who have been exceptional during these difficult times.
