IT seems to have started with one man concerned with litter in Rectory Field but now there are Harlow Wombles all over town!

Community-minded Barry Beaton started to do regular litter picks near his home.

He then started a Facebook page called Harlow Wombles, where he reached out to various communities across town.

Some already had a clean up ethos. The Potter Street group led by David Taylor have been very diilgent over the years.

But over the last two weeks, the Harlow Wombles has grown to such an extent that they now have ward representatives.

From Katherines to Newhall, there are Wombles everywhere.

It does seem to be the right time. Not only is it spring, not only do people want to get out and about as we climb out of lockdown but people also seem to want to re-establish links with their community.

They have received a great deal of support and materials from Harlow Council and HTS
