Nationally and locally the take-up rate over the last few weeks when especially the over 18s have been eligible for a jab is very low and along with most younger people already abandoning the wearing of masks in shops (and elsewhere) is it any wonder that cases are rising dramatically. Plus national deaths now back up to April levels, it does not bode well for the summer months when supposedly we should be conquering this. The Government while admitting cases could reach 50 to 100k daily are sadly missing the scientific point here. As ever too little, too late and woefully inept. Mask wearing really should continue to be encouraged as they said a few months ago "to protect strangers" Hospitalizations and deaths admittedly are at a low level but the 5 days increases of over 40 and 50% respectively do not really mean the link between cases and hospitalisation/deaths has been broken. Check out the website https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/ for the data.
As far as I am concerned it is over, get on with the rest of my life. Cases mean nothing, there will always be thousands of cases as there are for the flu. This virus is not going to dissapear because of a vaccine which some people think it will. We have thousands every year with flu and with a vaccine. More and more people are not wearing, and rightly so, masks anymore. Get a life and move on!
