Special Educational Needs Sports Festival a great success

HUGE smiles warmed one of the chilliest afternoons this month, as children from eight teams attended an afternoon festival at Church Langley School.
Funded in part by Active Essex, the second event of this academic year continued to link with the B2022 Commonwealth Games which are taking place later this summer.
Designed to provide participants with new experiences of sport and physical activity, the teams of four took part in scootering, bean-bag golf and boccia.

The children loved the different activities and the chance to develop their skills in a less pressurized and ‘quieter’ environment.
Having completed the round-robin of activities, the children headed indoors to dance away the final part of the afternoon. The sounds of laughter and huge smiles lit up the room as all of the children performed the moves to Waka Waka – this is Africa; Kung Fu fighting; and Ghostbusters. To finish, the athletes received a medal and some refreshments.
Thanks to SGO David Stacey and his SG staff team (Gill Pardoe and Samuel Hammond), the school staff and of the children from Church Langley, Newhall Primary, Henry Moore, Nazeing and Potter Street.
