HISTORY students in Year 7 at Burnt Mill Academy, in Harlow, visited Mountfitchet Castle as part of their studies.
They spent a day at the Norman castle and toy museum, exploring medieval life – including trying their hands at sword fighting while wearing battle armour, and seeing everyday life in a Norman household.

Charlie Steer, history teacher, said: “As we’re learning about the arrival of the Normans in England, the trip gave students the perfect opportunity to explore a real Norman castle, and have lots of fun while doing so.
“Our students were so well behaved, we received a certificate from the museum thanking us for taking care of their historic site.”
