FREE New Wave, Badge Making and Bead Making Workshops for ages 16 – 25 years at the Gibberd Gallery and The Gibberd Garden

New Wave is a new project run by the National Trust to encourage 16 – 25 year olds to engage with heritage. The workshops will take place on the Heritage Open Day weekend. We are excited to partner with The Gibberd Garden who will host one of our workshops as it celebrates Heritage Open Day with free admission and music throughout the day.

Show your pride in Harlow’s history with hand drawn badges with our Velo artists. Introducing humour as well as sharing their enthusiasm of Harlow Sculpture Town, young artists Jack Hamilton and Raine Clayson will guide and support you in creating your own unique designs. No knowledge of Harlow or drawing experience required.

In the afternoon you can meet other local young artists, Jordan Cook, Laura Bracey-Curry and Snootie Studios. They will be showing off their new artworks created as part of the ‘Gerda and her Guardians’ exhibition.

New Wave, The Gibberd Garden
Sunday 8 September, 2pm – 6pm
Free Admission to the garden and workshop, 16 – 25-year-olds

Join Velo artists Snootie Studios and Laura Bracey-Curry for a free bead workshop, inspired by the work of Gerda Rubinstein, and her relationship with Pat & Fredrick Gibberd.

In the workshop you will craft unique bead pieces, phone charms, and friendship bracelets, using second-hand beads. Inspired by Rubinstein’s ‘Potentate’, you will explore how to translate her sculptural forms into wearable art.

This will take place in the enchanting Gibberd Garden. Marvel at the stunning landscapes, sculptures, and art while enjoying live music from Six on Sax.

The Velo Artists will be arriving in style on cargo bikes. You can discover your way to The Gibberd Garden by train, bus, car, cycling or foot by clicking here where you can also learn more about our partner and their events.
