Works underway as Pets’ Corner get ready to welcome secret new arrivals

EXCITING news as Harlow Council’s Pets’ Corner prepares for the arrival of some special new residents that will be revealed this winter.
Works have now started on a new enclosure, which will occupy the space of an unused pond that has been empty for several years. The pond hasn’t been able to be filled due to restrictions around Avian Flu and having to discourage wild birds from Pets’ Corner. This has provided an opportunity to create a new use for the area which will provide a home for the new arrivals.

So far, the floor of the pond has been broken up to allow for more effective drainage in this area, and 40 tons of sand has been delivered. No, it is not going to be a giant sand pit!
The works are funded by Harlow Council as part of a programme to continue improving its range of community facilities around the town.
Councillor Danielle Brown, portfolio holder for community and wellbeing, said: “This is an exciting time for the dedicated staff and volunteers at Pets’ Corner who are putting in extra effort to prepare for these special new arrivals.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our much-loved community services and redeveloping the unused pond area to accommodate new animals is a great initiative which I’m sure will be welcomed by residents and visitors of Pets’ Corner.”
Work is now in process to construct the rest of the enclosure and installation of electrics. If you are planning to visit Pets’ Corner soon, please be aware of these ongoing works which might disrupt your visit.
Stay tuned for the reveal of the new animals and follow Pets’ Corner Harlow on Facebook to keep up-to-date with the work progress.
