TOP Tips for a merry journey through London Stansted as 1.3 million passengers take to the skies this Christmas

Christmas is in the air at London Stansted, where staff are ready to welcome festive travellers with cheer and a little extra sparkle.

Over a 1.3 million passengers are expected to travel through the airport between December 20 and January 5.

To help passengers make the most of their holiday journeys, the airport has released 12 top travel tips to ensure smooth sailing through the terminal this Christmas.

Anita Harrison, London Stansted’s Customer Operations Director, said:
“As we approach the Christmas school holiday period, we’re gearing up for another busy time, welcoming thousands of passengers heading off to spend the holidays with loved ones or enjoy a winter getaway. It is one of the most magical times of the year to travel but we’re all hands-on deck here, making sure everything’s ready for the big getaway. Our teams are working their festive socks off to ensure every passenger has the best experience possible as they travel through the airport this over the holidays!”

12 travel tips for a stress-free festive journey:

  1. Check before you jet off.
Check public transport timetables and road conditions before you head out! Liverpool Street will be closed from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day, so Stansted Express services will start/terminate at Tottenham Hale.
  2. Pre-book parking.
Take the stress out of parking by reserving a space in advance or opt for Meet & Greet for ultimate convenience.
  3. Arrive with time to spare.
Follow your airline’s advice on arrival times, usually two to four hours before your flight. Stay updated on any changes by checking airline updates and London Stansted’s social media.
  4. Keep gifts unwrapped.
Leave presents unwrapped to avoid delays at Security. Better yet, pick up last-minute gifts at the airport’s Tax-Free stores.
  5. Check packing rules.
Be mindful of the 100ml liquid rule and avoid packing restricted items like sparklers and party poppers.
  6. Speed things up with FastTrack.
Skip the queues with FastTrack for Security or Passport Control. Prices start at just £8, giving you a smoother journey.
  7. Remove winter layers at Security.
Coats, scarves, and hats should be removed and placed in the trays for scanning.
  8. Electronics in a tray
Laptops, phones, and tablets need their own tray at Security – be prepared!
  9. Treat yourself to lounge access.
Escape the crowds in our Escape Lounge, with food, drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere.
  10. Check Christmas opening hours.
While the airport remains open, shop and restaurant hours may vary over the holidays. Check the website for details.
  11. Pack for comfort.
Bring travel essentials like a neck pillow, blanket, or eye mask to ensure a cozy flight.
  12. Spread Christmas cheer!
Take a deep breath and embrace the festive spirit. Airport staff are ready to assist and make your journey merry and bright.

13. We want everybody to have a safe and enjoyable journey, so if you arrive at the airport terminal or attempt to board your flight in an intoxicated state, then you be turned away.
