No County Council elections in Harlow but there is a By Election in Mark Hall
News / Tue 29th Apr 2025 at 07:12am
THERE are no County Council elections in Harlow this week. These elections have been postponed this year across Essex due to devolution proposals which include the creation of an Essex Mayor.

However, there is a Harlow Council By Election taking place on Thursday 1 May 2025 for the Mark Hall ward. This is the only election this week.
If you live in the Mark Hall Ward and are registered for a postal vote the council says that you should have received your voting pack already. If you are voting in person, please remember to bring
an acceptable form of photo ID with you – for example a passport, photo driving licence or a national concessionary bus pass.
For information on the Mark Hall by election visit www.harlow.gov.uk/voting-and-elections/latest-election-news or keep an eye on Harlow Council’s Facebook page.
Only dictators cancel election s.
This is appalling, so going forward we have no county councillors as there term expires right ?
No representation, no tax should be the thing , labour party yet again have shown us how they are vote for anyone else but labour
It’s so wrong, can’t wait to get rid off this labour government
Agreed Mickaic, that's why younger people should be able to vote, as they also.pay taxes.
Kim, I think that would only be true for national elections - logically.
Both Harlow and Essex Councils are Conservative led. This can hardly be a politically led decision. If The Conservatives are aggrieved the simple answer is for them to resign on mass
Is it actually legal to keep Councillors in office beyond their elected term? Strange to think that we live in a democracy -allegedly. A big thank you to everyone who voted Labour in the last election. You must be feeling more pride in your government every day.
We all know the reason the county elections have been cancelled
Toddlers throwing a tantrum about the end of democracy because one year skips the council election. We re-elected the entire council last year because of boundary changes, taking one year off isn't some act of treason and the end of democracy. Get a grip.
